Managers "Rapping" Up Their SMART Goals

DJ Chrissie C busts a rhyme! Word. (Rap name by myrapname.com)

On Wednesday, Nov. 2nd, the UTS manager team met for a session on writing great smart goals. This session was led by Christina Mazzella (IT F&A) and was an excellent review of putting together Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timely (SMART) written goals in Sonar 6 as we begin that process for each of our teams. Christina did a fantastic job discussing these principles and brought them home with a fun Smart Goal "Rap." Here for your pleasure is Christina's Rap.

Come on now let's get to party
We are going to beeecome SMARTy
I have the goals that need some aligning
So you and I are gonna break'em down

"S" is for Specifics
We need to know answers
Who, What, When, Where, Which and Why
Tell me what I'm responsible for
And it will elevate my score

"M" is for Measureable
Think of a cup, you don't need to be a baker such
To know how much
How many and how will I know when I'm done
You have to break it down to be a SMARTy

"A" is for Attainable
Be yourself and achieve the goals
That you have set out
Grasp for the apple unlike Eve
You can have the knowledge an accepting appeal

"R" is for Realistic
Represent the goal
And if it is real
The person will not resist the mark
If you represent it right

"T" is for Timely or Tangible
Give it a time frame
Or touch their senses
And you will make them
Less reactive

Come and join me in the party
To beeecome a SMARTy
SMART GOALS ROCK!

Thanks to Christina for a great, fun session on writing great SMART goals. It will make a huge difference as we move forward with that process with our teams.
